FAMILY: Canna

USES: Flower display and leafy tropical effect. Does well as a border, edging plant, in pots, containers, groundcover, around pools, courtyards, patios, near pools and water features.

SIZE: Grows 1-3m tall.

LOCATION: Full sun to light partial shade. Does well with some protection from direct sea wind or hot, dry desert wind.

SOIL: Prefers sandy, organically enriched free draining fertile soil with a pH 6.1 – 7.5, mildly acidic to neutral.

FERTILISER: Apply a slow release 14:14:14 NPK every four months if grow in pots. Use a 19:6:12 NPK annually if grown in the ground.

WATER: Keep soil moist. Moderately drought tolerant for very short periods only. Prefers regular watering and will also grow well in lake and pond margins.
