FAMILY: Nerium
USES: Tropical effect through its flowers which occur over an extended period. Does well as a shrub, hedge, foundation plant, container plant, espalier, as a background and as a screen plant.
SIZE: Grows 2-6m tall with a 2 m spread at a rate of 40 – C60 cm p/a.
LOCATION: Full sun and reflected heat. Accepts direct sea wind and also hot, dry desert wind.
SOIL: Best in an organically enriched free draining fertile soil with a pH 5.6 – 7.8, acidic to mildly alkaline.
FERTILISER: Apply a slow release 10:20:10NPK annually in spring.
WATER: Keep soil moist. Does not accept over irrigation or waterlogging which will lead to yellowing of the leaves.
