FAMILY: PineApple

USES: Used as a transitional plant from tropical to non tropical garden areas. An architectural focal point, an accent, border, barrier, pot or container plant, en masse, in fruit gardens and coastal shoreline areas.

SIZE: Grows 0.75 – 1.5m tall with a 1.2-1.75m spread at a medium growth rate.

LOCATION: Full sun to partial shade. Does well in both open coastal and shaded interior regions.

SOIL: Best in an open free draining sandy soil with a pH 4.6 – 6.5, very acidic to mildly acidic.

FERTILISER: A greedy feeder. Apply 50gm. of a slow release 14:14:14 NPK every three months. Watch for possible Mn and Fe deficiency.

WATER: Keep soil moist. Does not accept over irrigation or waterlogging and death will usually occur within a 15 day period if this plant is over watered.
