FAMILY: Alternanthera

USES: A strong border, bedding or edging plant. Also used in containers, planters, window boxes and hanging baskets.

SIZE: Grows 15 – 90cm tall with a 1m spread.

LOCATION: Full sun to partial shade. Does well in full sun in humid coastal areas and in partial midsummer shade in the dry interior regions.

SOIL: Best in an organically enriched free draining fertile soil with a pH 6.1 – 7.8, mildly acidic to mildly alkaline.

FERTILISER: Apply a slow release 14:14:14 NPK every four months, making sure the pellets do not remain on the leaves.

WATER: Regular irrigation to maintain growth through the summer . Does not accept over irrigation or waterlogging.
