FAMILY: Atriplex
USES: Does well as a shrub, formal or informal hedge, foundation plant or en masse. Also used for soil stabilisation and as a barrier plant.
SIZE: Grows 2.5 to 3m tall with an equal spread. Fast growing.
LOCATION: Full sun to light partial shade. Accepts direct sea wind and hot, dry desert winds.
SOIL: Best in an organically enriched fertile soil with a pH 6.6 – 9.1, neutral to very alkaline.
FERTILISER: Apply a slow release 14:14:14 NPK every 3-4 months.
WATER: Keep soil moist. Drought tolerant once established. Does not accept over irrigation or waterlogging.
