‘Carpentaria Palm’
FAMILY: Carpentaria
USES: A fine specimen palm used in courtyards, intimate and restricted spaces and also to line boulevards and avenues.
SIZE: Grows to 10m tall with a 3.5m spread at a rate of 50 – 60 cm p/a.
LOCATION: Full sun to partial shade. Does well in humid and coastal locations. Not so good in the hotter drier interior regions.
SOIL: Best in an organically enriched fertile soil with a pH 5.6 – 7.5, acidic to neutral. Will show leaf chlorosis if soil is too alkaline (apply K and Mg), also apply Mn to avoid frizzle top.
FERTILISER: Apply a slow release 8:2:12 NPK with 4Mg and trace elements every 6 months.
WATER: Keep soil moist. Requires regular irrigation.
