Gazania’

FAMILY: Gazania

USES: Used for its carpet of foliage and varied flower colour. Does well as a groundcover, bedding or edging plant alongside a path. Also very often used en masse, in mixed borders, as a container plant, in pots, hanging baskets, window boxes, planters or containers.

SIZE: Grows to 15 – 30cm tall with a 30cm spread. Fast growing.

LOCATION: Full sun and reflected heat to partial shade. Prefers a slightly humid location. Does well in both coastal and inland areas although will tend to flower longer in the slightly cooler coastal areas.

SOIL: Best in an organically enriched free draining fertile sandy soil with a pH 5.6 – 7.5, acidic to neutral.

FERTILISER: Apply a liquid 14:14:14 NPK starting two months after planting. Watch for Mg and Fe deficiency.

WATER: Keep soil moist but avoid waterlogging which will quickly lead to rot. Try not to spray water on the foliage and flowers.
