‘Spider Lily’
FAMILY: Hymenocallis
USES: Strong flower display and strappy leaves. Does well as a bedding, edging, border plant or in pots, containers, in focal points, entrance areas, roof gardens or en masse.
SIZE: Grows 45-60cm tall with a 30-45cm spread. Fast growing.
LOCATION: Full sun to partial shade. Does well in most locations with light summer shade in the interior regions.
SOIL: Best in an organically enriched fertile soil with a pH 5.6 – 7.5, acidic to neutral. May show leaf chlorosis if soil is too alkaline.
FERTILISER: Apply a slow release 10:20:10 NPK every three months together with Fe sulphate if soil becomes too alkaline.
WATER: Keep soil moist. This plant is not drought tolerant. Does not accept much salinity in the irrigation water.
