‘Creeping Lilyturf’
FAMILY: Liriope
USES: Low tropical effect. Usually seen as an understorey plant, en masse in shaded areas, in border, intimate areas and as a low growing groundcover. Does well under canopied trees or shade structures in Japanese gardens, near streams, ponds, water features, around pools and in courtyards.
SIZE: Grows 30cm tall with a 30cm spread at a rate of 10 – 20 cm p/a.
LOCATION: Light partial shade to shade with bright indirect light. Does best in the more humid coastal regions with some moderate protection from direct sea blown wind.
SOIL: Best in an organically enriched free draining fertile sandy soil with a pH 4.6 – 7.5, very acidic to neutral. Does not do so well if soil is too alkaline or saline.
FERTILISER: Apply a slow release 14:14:14 NPK every six months.
WATER: Keep soil moist. Not very drought tolerant. Does not accept over irrigation or waterlogging which will quickly lead to root rot.
