‘White Mulberry, Toot’

FAMILY: Morus

USES: Fruit and sometimes used as a specimen, hedge or medium sized screen tree. Does well in residential gardens, large planters and fruit gardens. Does well in mixed borders, courtyards, entrance areas and beside water features, lakes, pools and streams. (Sap and fruit can cause staining).

SIZE: Grows 3 – 6m tall with an equal spread.

LOCATION: Full sun with partial shade (protection) to the trunk initially. Does well in coastal areas and in slightly humid locations such as palm groves in the interior regions provided it is not water stressed or exposed to hot dry winds.

SOIL: Best in an organically enriched free draining fertile soil with a pH 5.6 – 7.5, acidic to neutral.

FERTILISER: Apply a slow release 15:8:11 NPK with trace elements annually in spring and in summer.

WATER: Keep soil moist as this plant does not accept drought. Regular, deep water required for best growth, flowering and fruit production. Does not accept over irrigation or waterlogging.
