FAMILY: Pachypodium
USES: Tropical effect. Accent, silhouette, specimen, feature or barrier plant. In pots, containers, en masse, in rock gardens , entrances and pool areas.
SIZE: Grows 3m tall with a 1m spread. Grows at a rate of 30-45cm p/a.
LOCATION: Full sun and reflected heat to partial shade. Does best in coastal areas and will grow in interior regions with some protection in July/August.
SOIL: Best in an organically enriched well draining sandy soil with a pH 5.6 – 7.8, acidic to mildly alkaline.
FERTILISER: Apply a slow release 10:20:10 NPK annually in spring. May require additional Mg and Mn.
WATER: Allow soil to dry out between water applications. Does not accept over irrigation or waterlogging.
