‘Elephant Tusk’
FAMILY: Sansevieria
USES: Showy vertical, cylindrical, deep green leaf form. Does well as a low barrier plant, en masse, in borders, pots or containers, around pools, courtyards and under canopied trees. Keep root bound if grown in pots for best results.
SIZE: Grows 0.5 – 1.5m tall with a 30-60cm spread at a rate of 30cm p/a. Slow growing.
LOCATION: Full sun to shade. Does well in coastal areas with protection from direct sea wind and in interior regions with protection from hot, dry midday summer sun.
SOIL: Best in an organically enriched fertile soil with a pH 6.1 – 7.8, mildly acidic to mildly alkaline. Will show leaf chlorosis if soil is too alkaline, saline or if over irrigated.
FERTILISER: Apply a slow release 15:19:11 NPK with trace elements annually in spring. Add half strength 9:2:6NPK with trace elements every two months if grown in containers.
WATER: Keep soil moist. Prefers deep, periodic irrigation. Does not accept over irrigation or waterlogging.
